Whitelock’s Sous Chef

We are looking for a talented Sous Chef to join our team at Whitelock’s Ale House.

ABOUT OUR PUB

Whitelock’s is the oldest pub in the city, a Grade II* Listed establishment with a strong reputation for service, a well-regarded core menu and a high standard of changing daily specials. The venue also incorporates our sister bar, The Turk’s Head, a beautiful craft beer venue, serviced by the same kitchen.

THE ROLE

As sous chef you will be second in command to the Head Chef. The post includes ensuring effective and efficient running of our kitchen, including taking responsibility forthe following, in association with the senior management team.

Duties include (but not limited to):

  • Preparing, cooking, presenting and serving menu items to the best of your ability, in a manner agreed by the management team.
  • Completing routine cleaning schedules
  • Leading the kitchen team in absence of the Head Chef
  • Follow house Health & Safety and Food Hygiene policies
  • Day-to-day stock management
  • Placing food orders in a timely and organised manner
  • Writing, costing and delivering specials and dinner club menus
  • Carry out any reasonable task asked of you by senior management

  • Flexible rota but must be available to work evenings and weekends when required.
£30,000 – £32,000 a year – dependent on experience.

This role would suit an ambitious professional, eager to develop their career within a forward thinking and creatively engaging kitchen. Successful applicants will have good communication skills, a great temperament and an excellent working ethos.

Experience:

  • Chef (5 years experience)
  • Kitchen ( 5 years experience)
